* Paving a Path to Greater Network Freedom

How can Guix and Guile participate in increasing network freedom?
Discussions include leveraging Guix to make server deployment and
maintenance a better experience, as well as ideas in how Guile could
provide leadership in web development and federation.  Perspectives
from the needs of GNU MediaGoblin for deployability will be presented
to the audience, as well as contextualizing Guix deployment in terms
of "UserOps" (in parallel with / in contrast to DevOps).

** Braindump / outline

Things I want to include:

 - Deployment
   - A high level vision of what's needed
   - Guix (web) human deployment interface
   - Atomic rollbacks!
   - Backups of mutable data
 - What do we need?

 - Web development and federation
   - What about tools that did things right from the beginning?
   - 8sync (or something like it)

Could even just walk through the blogposts I've made on the subject of

GNU Guile has a wonderful and welcoming community, but could things be
better?  The recent website redesign is a great start... can we expand
on that initiative?  What can we learn from related projects in this
space?

** Braindump / outline

 - How we present ourselves matters
 - The new website is a huge improvement!
 - The last website looks like it emerged fully formed from rms' beard,
   not unlike Athena, born fully formed from Zeus forehead

 - It's hard to get started in Guile
   - First, become convinced that Guile is worth learning
   - First learn emacs!
   - Then learn info!
   - Then read Little Schemer, because we don't have a real tutorial
   - Then come back and read the reference guide
 - Diversity is necessary
 - Assholes are killing your community
 - Looking at other communities
 - Libraries and projects to hack on
 - Ability to install those libraries!
 - Outreach takes real work
 - Guile is *almost there*, on the verge of having a much better community
 - What are Guile's strengths?
 - What kind of community does Guile want?
 - Wizards in the tower vs Guile as a playground
